I jumped onto the Colourpop bandwagon really late, I know. So, not so strangely enough the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Foxy Kit was the very first set of Liquid Lips I tried from the brand. Being an accountant in another life I am constantly trying to save cost, how and where I can. I thought it was a good idea to try out more colors in a kaam price.
The Colourpop Liquid Matte Lip Foxy Kit contains five different shades ranging from nudes to darks. Each Ultra Matte Lip comes in a glass bottle which contains 0.64 g or 0.02 oz of product each, whereas the full sized bottle contains 3.2 g or 0.11 oz of product. But, trust me these small Ultra Matte Lip bottles will last forever.
I have naturally very dark and pigmented lips, so, it’s always a blessing if a lip color shows up on my lips as beautiful as it appears. Miraculously, all the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip shades pop up on my lips nice and pretty, complimenting my skin tone beautifully.
The doe foot applicator makes it very easy to apply the Liquid Mattes, I do however, need to dunk in twice to get a full nice coverage all over, as these tend to dry out to a matte finish on the lips very quickly, which I actually like.
The darker shades literally last all day, I go about eating and drinking and never do I feel the need to reapply my lipstick or maybe yes, I am just a little too lazy like that. But, I do feel the lighter shades wear off after a few hours.
The set contains five shades:
- More Better
Clueless is a dusty mauve, quite honestly I had thrown this one aside thinking it was another nude color that would never really look good on me. Turns out, I was wrong, very very wrong. It’s a beautiful pink that can be worn everyday and I have noticed this accentuates my lip lines the least of all. On my lips the Ultra Matte Lip comes out with a touch of violet to it.
On the Colourpop Website Beeper has been defined as Geiger rose, but to me it’s more of a brown and since I am a huge fan of browns, I have been wearing it almost every day.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE!
A dusty burgundy with a hint of brown to it. Even if you decide not to buy this kit, you need to try this shades out on it’s own. Every time I wear this, I get compliments from friends and acquaintances alike. It’s one of those darker shades that would compliment almost every skin tone and can be worn to any event easily.
I absolutely love this color, a deep wine dunked in purple. I have been looking for a shade like this since forever and it came to me just like that.
Creeper is classic bright red. And mind you, it’s not your average red, it’s a very bright red. Now, I am a huge fan of reds, I truly am, but this is way too bright for me; even when it does compliment my skin tone. I don’t really find the idea of wearing such a bright red comforting. I have hardly even touched it, hence the pretty neat bottle. But, if you love bright reds, this by all means is that very red you’ve been searching for your entire life.
Though Colourpop claims that The Ultra Matte Lips are 100% kiss-proof AKA no transferring, I would disagree. The colors lighter and darker transfer equally, then again I have learnt not to let the lipstick on my food and my straws bother me much.
Some of these Ultra Matte Lips are a little drying on the lips especially Tulle for some reason. Since I don’t have dry lips, I don’t really mind the dryness much but for someone with dry lips I’d recommend you use some lip primer beforehand. Also, it’d be a better idea to prime your lips as the darker shades of the Ultra Matt Lips would advertise the fine lines on your lips that you never really bothered about.
